A
charity fundraiser was held in November, 1996 on the thirtieth
anniversary of Chuck Jones' animated TV special How the
Grinch Stole Christmas. A number of Chuck's collaborators
attended that evening, including his longtime layout man,
Maurice Noble. (Note the WhoVille sign to their right;
the ballroom was decorated, quite imaginatively, to resemble
Dr. Seuss' fictitious village.) Both men are gone now,
but they left behind a tangible legacy: a vast number
of young animators and artists whom they mentored and
befriended. |
One of the joys of my job at Entertainment Tonight is
getting to interview people I admire. Anyone who ever
spoke to Jack Lemmon can tell you what a genuinely nice,
considerate, intelligent man he was...and anyone who met
him in recent years also had occasion to meet his standard
poodle Chloe, who traveled with him everywhere he went,
even in the First Class cabin of commercial airplanes!
This shot was taken on location for The Odd Couple 2 in
Camarillo, California in August, 1997. |

Wherever I travel I take snapshots of faded advertising
on brick walls and remains of old movie theaters. This
one caught my eye a couple of years ago in Cooperstown,
New York. The local theater obviously tried to attract
baseball fans in years gone by. |
